pesticides in my garden

The spray pesticides in our society garden, the fall guy who sprays it is masked --looking not unlike an alien-but what about us--and the children-- who then romp around in the garden? what about the birds & butterflies? One of the trees has a nest. I saw tiny babies --one beak peeking out--i wonder if it will survive this assault? Lets stop this. What about the plants? they are supposed to make our life healthy, the cleaner. But we go ahead and lace it with poison..as tho there isn't enough of it in the air.

Second Green Revolution. Help!

The PM, Dr Manmohan singh has said that the GM crops can help usher in the second Green revolution. Does the PM know the impacts of the first one. he should find out from the state he belongs to. Intensive use of fertilisers have degraded farmlands, soil fertility has suffered, yield has crashed-of rice and wheat and other crops--which has contributed to the whopping 19 per cent inflation in food prices. The country now produces less rice per hectare than its far poorer neighbors: Pakistan, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh. Also, let’s not forget farmer suicides in Punjab..This is not me, environmentalist saying this, but The Wall Street Journal

my tiger strongest ...

have you ever experienced this syndrome? Travel thru tiger country--and the staff--of all tiger reserve from the forest gaurd upwards is convinced that their tigers are the best. Like no other. Oh you may see a tiger in Ranthmabhore, but they are tame--so went the dudhwa guys--ours are wild..
ranthambhore feels their coat is better..
Panna-the tigers were (yes were, they are gone now..forever..) were compact--more power packed in their glorious frame, pound for pound....
Kanha--oh so beautiful....
Corbett's oc course are the biggest, grandest..
Of course, the Royal Bengal tiger of sundarbans is the most superior of them all!
(incidentally, in a way i agree--for his life in the mangroves is certainly the hardest, and it must take a very special tiger to survive there..

no logic. no science. just an immense sense of pride in their tigers in their turf, under their watch. i love it..love the pride they feel in 'their tigers'..

To the (beloved) Dog

Hi, i don't know how it works in your Doggy World, but in the society we deem civilised, and where you are doomed to live, we have manners--a set of rules we live by--i don't know why-but i guess that's what makes us 'higher beings'.
Anyways..here goes. and i would really be obliged if you will oblige:

1) The best way to greet a person is not by thrusting your nose in his/her butt, or crotch for that matter. You hear?
2) my clothes are not towels. that's not where you wipe your face after you eat food
3) toilet bowls are not drinking water. Yes, i know the same logic applies here as in Rule 1 (the smellier, the better) . Still, NO.
4) when you take us for a walk, don't pull. You aren't sled dogs heroically pulling us through ice and snow. If we fall or something--there goes your caretaker/butler/cook/nurse. See, we are only looking after your interests
5) I know the postman only puts in a rare appearance these days. But in his absence the daily help is NOT the substitute. She is to be left alone. she is more important than you. Gettit? don't sulk--she is more important that anyone in the house, hubby included.
6) that nice Persian rug in the drawing room. Ya, i know your favourite--its not a picnic mat--or your dining table. thats what bowls are for.
